iGEO LOGO by luckytoyn
Just the logo of our research group. I like it so I upload it here :)
We work on an artificial intelligence able to detect what parameters are used in planetary evolution models. So my idea was that a machine is kind of looking into the Earth and trying to reproduce it in another planet.
We use seismology, so my colleagues thought it would be nice to have a seismogram somewhere. This is how I made the "i".

Color pencils on usual A4 paper. Calligraphy ink for the background (plus a little bit of GIMP to make it really dark in the corners).

Abstract 11 Cheating!
I am amazed by my own ignorance in terms of colouring...
This is my previous pastel drawing, in which I plaid with the colours with GIMP. Using the filter "Hue", one can change all the colours simultaneously. When I do that, all new drawings are nice, the only crappy one is the original! Meaning i really suck at choosing the good colours.
This one is the best I could find cheating the colours. I actually really like it!

Pastel with digitally adapted colours.
See abstract 11 for the original.

I keep trying new stuff, even though I still have no idea what I am doing.
As before, with these pastels, I start and feel like I am wasting some (weird green?!) paper. But actually I start walking in the colours and this is nice. Probably very egoistic way of painting, because it is nice to paint it but ugly to look at...
This is really immature painting, but I feel like something is slowly progressing. I keep trying.

Dry pastels on green paper.

Hi guys,
Just to tell you that I am trying some abstract paintings this month. I post these paintings in DA because I would like to have some feedback from you all. Please tell me what you think about all that, anything you have in mind can help me in my progression (if any). I am looking for a relation with color, composition and I would like to produce dynamic paintings. I usually don't deel too much with movement usually, so a lot of things are new for me here.
Thanks in advance guys!! :la:

Antoine Rozel
I recently finished my PhD thesis in geodynamics. So I am an Earth-science researcher now. I am a one-year teacher in the University of Lyon, in France and I search a post-doc position around the world.

Painting and drawing is clearly a passion! I would really like to live by my art. So I try to organize showings of my work now.

Thank you kindly for adding me to your watch list! :) (Smile)   And I wish you the best of luck in finding a good Post-Doc position!  Earth-Science is a fascinating field of research!

Thanks for the watch/llama :)
My ID is out dated, I have found 2 postdocs already, I am currently in ETH Zurich, in a very nice place!
Are you also a scientific?
I work in geodynamics. This is a very exciting domain.

Congratulations on your post-doc! :) (Smile)  Yes, I am trained in evolutionary biology using various animals as model organisms.  I agree, geodynamics is a fascinating field and there is still so much to learn.  It was such a radical idea when Alfred Wegener proposed the idea of 'Continental Drift' almost a hundred years ago -- and it took another 50 years for the idea to be accepted.  But, still, we can not predict with much accuracy when there will be an earthquake or when a volcano will erupt.
